Community Infrastructure – Lead Architect
Job Description:
- Identifying, researching, and developing evolutionary and revolutionary virtualization strategies, evangelizing across the enterprise
- Work in active partnership with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop virtualization strategies and objectives that will enable the growth and evolution of Halliburton
- Support leaders, technical experts, and operations partners in infrastructure and application architecture considering holistic and integrated approaches that provide data integrity, information confidentiality, and service availability
- Responsible for forecasting non-functional and functional requirements and aligning expertise and team capacity to meet the current and planned needs of the business
- Support SDLC and governance, review of technical risk for initiatives and business architectures, recommend controls where indicated
- Provide input to the Common Ground architectural review board that engages leaders and subject matter experts cross-functionally from applications and infrastructure teams at Halliburton
- Coordinate controls that can reasonably accommodate existing control gaps while also facilitating new directions in enterprise virtual infrastructure design
- Facilitate key architectural initiatives, including research and development, early in the project lifecycle
- Supporting enterprise strategy and architecture for information security services, mechanisms and safeguards
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert
Skillset Required:
- Demonstrated success in creating unified virtualized solutions for a large and complex organization
- In depth technical knowledge of server virtualization and its benefits
- Experience with VMware ESX 5.0 and VMware vCloud Director
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in design of VMware-based redundant and high-availability solutions
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in tuning and optimization of VMware-based implementations
- Minimum of 5+ years experience with Linux & Windows Operating systems from a system administrator perspective
- Hands-on experience supporting VMware infrastructure in a large enterprise environment
- Knowledge of vMotion and Physical to Virtual (P2V) tools such as Acronis, Vizioncore, and Double-Take desirable
- Knowledge of networking including setup up and troubleshooting VLAN’s and trunking, etc.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
“Nice to have” skillset:
- Experience with the VMware APIs and PowerCLI a STRONG plus
- Experience with Hyper-V, Parallels, and Oracle VM a plus
- Familiarity with IT Governance standards including ITIL and CoBIT a plus
- Practical working knowledge of Cloud Deployment Models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS), Mobile Architecture, Global Network Operations, Network and Application Security and/or Data Protection a plus
- Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes and standards (e.g. SNMP); capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network management a plus
- Knowledge of data storage protocols including CIFS, FC, FCoE, iSCSI, and NFS a plus
